The first cell phone was just like the home phones when Bell Telephone dominated the industry. You could make and receive phone calls. No voice mail. No text messages. It might have had redial, or even a speed dial. But very likely not much more than that. Oh, it was also about the size of a brick (but weighed half as much) and the battery wouldn't last more than an hour or two of talk time. Yeah, we've come a very long way since then.

∙ 15y agoMake telephone calls. Even though they had normal telephone dials, all calls required the operator to place the call - the average call in the late 60's cost about $10 per call.
