This answer requires some clarification. Amon-Ra, (Or Amun among other spellings) is a unification or consolidation of the earlier sun god "Ra" and of the later incarnation of Amon or Amun into "Amun-Ra." Both names refer to the same sun god. However, when in the original form of "Ra" he was said to be the brother of Osiris. Later "Ra" or "Amun-Ra" was elevated to supreme deity and Osiris the singular god of the Sun. So the "brother" technically applies to the earlier version, before the two names became one in the same, as "Amun-Ra."
Amon re was the sun god, aka Amun Ra. There are two gods in this one god, Amun, and Ra, Amun was combined with Ra. Ra is the sun god. He was born, acording to the Egyptian creation story, out of nuu, nothingness (nuu is a term for the void before the world was dreated, not a god) he then gave birth to Geb and Tefnet, the upper and lower air. They gave birth to Osiris, Isis, Seth, Thout and Nepthys. Nepthys, Set's wife and Osiris gave birth to Anubis, god of mummification. Later Osiris and Isis, his wife, gave birth to Horus, who eventually killed seth. Osiris died twice, and then became the god of the dead(different story).
The Egyptian god Amun was never not a god, nor did he die.
