the KKK killed African Americans, and the Southern government didn't do a thing, an if they had to, they did very little. but the Yankees actually tried but usually failed.
because the government and presidents were and are Klan members, and if not, very sympathetic to their beliefs. The first branch of the Ku Klux Klan was established in Pulaski, Tennessee, in May, 1866. A year later a general organization of local Klan's was established in Nashville in April, 1867. Most of the leaders were former members of the Confederate Army and the first Grand Wizard was Nathan Forrest, an outstanding general during the American Civil War. During the next two years they terrorised and killed black Americans, sympathetic whites and immigrants, who they blamed for the election of Radical Republicans. Between 1868 and 1870 the Ku Klux Klan played an important role in restoring white rule in North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia. At first the main objective of white supremacy organizations such as the Ku Klux Klan was to stop black people from voting. After white governments had been established in the South the Ku Klux Klan continued to undermine the power of blacks. Successful black business's were attacked and any attempt to form black protection groups such as trade unions was quickly dealt with. Eventually the Klan targeted anyone they disliked - Jews, Catholics etc.
They advocated in Dubi with the cheetas. The Ku Klux Klan was originally a social fraternity, organized by Confederate General Nathan Bedford Forrest, the first Grand Wizard of the Empire, in 1867. The purpose of the KKK soon developed into a paramilitary force used to oppose the Republican governments set up in the old Confederate States and used to stop Freedmen (ex-slaves) from voting, attempting to register to vote, and from trying to hold elective offices in the southern states. When the KKK became too violent, Forrest ordered it disbanded, but the violent element in the KKK continued, until the government passed the Force Acts and the Klan was extinguished in 1872. In 1915, William Simmons founded the twentieth-century version of the KKK after viewing the film, Birth of a Nation, which glorified the history of the Klan. The new Klan was not only anti black, but anti Jewish, anti foreign, and anti-Catholic. The Klan actually became a respected part of the Democratic Party and reached its peak of political power in the 1920s, when membership may have been as high as 4.5 million, including many prominent business and political leaders. The Klan declined in power when the Grand Dragon, was found guilty of second degree murder in the death of a young women whom he had taken to Chicago with him. In an attempt to lessen his sentence, Grand Dragon David Stephenson turned over evidence to the government revealing the corruption of the Klan, the names of politicians the Klan had bribed, and other illegal activities of the organization. In the 1960s, the KKK briefly rose again to try and opposed the Civil Rights movement. After numerous deaths and disappearance of civil rights workers in the South, and the burning of black churches, and the passage of the Civil Rights Acts of 1964 and 1965, the Klan fell apart. Today, there are small splinter groups of the KKK but no one large national organization.
To stop any possibility of a communist revolution.
For the most part, the Ku Klux Klan no longer exists, so it is neither good nor bad. At the end of the American Civil War, vagabond solders and other groups tyrannized parts of the South. The established civil authorities were unable to protect the people. At that point the Ku Klux Klan formed in secret and started fighting back. It started out as an organization to prevent terrorism. It served a good purpose. After it had solved the original problem, it continued to meet. At that point it became a terrorist organization. General Forest ordered it to stop meeting. It took it a while to wind down. Right after World War 1, a number of communist led riots occurred in the United States. Open warfare existed. The Klan came into existence again to fight an enemy that the government could not fight. This time the Klan was headquartered in Indiana. Many of the battles involved an alliance between the Communists and the Labor Unions. To stop the pitched battles, Congress passed an immigration bill to keep more Communists from Eastern Europe from entering the United States. When the Democrats got rid of the Communist, Henry Wallace, the Vice President in 1944, the Communist danger within the United States had passed. The Klan no longer had a reason to exist. The Klan again became a terrorist organization. As a result of a number of arrests, it has wound down. Now the Klan does not really exist as such. Occasionally a group forms, but it does not stay formed for long. Many organizations used the pattern followed by the Klan. A terrorist group or some terrorist activity exists which the established government can not or will not control. It is illegal or extremely dangerous for anyone else to try to do anything about it. Some men get together in secret and create a secret organization to solve the problem. The secret organization starts killing the bullies and terrorists. When all the bullies and terrorists have been killed, the secret organization does not disband, but remains a viable organization. Then it becomes like the organizations it opposed.
He opposed the Ku Klux Klan because of their violent and racist policies and he knew he could do something to stop the Klan.

Local governments did little to stop the violence. Many officials feared the Klan or were sympathetic to its activities

To stop Republicans from taking control of state governments. (These are now called Democrats -2017)

There is really no way to stop the KKK. Basically you can not stop racism no matter how hard you try, there will always be people who do not like someone because of race though there is nothing wrong with this due to the 1st admenmant
