they are made of wood however those homes are for either cheaper to build which may have been around for years or they are desired by the home owners,however they have same similar/familiar amenities as US.
However the majority of homes here are made of steel/re bars, concrete and building blocks{ mixture of sand and cement} ,roofing ceramics now a days or concrete slab roof.
Most houses incorporate wood in the design of the interior like windows,or in the ceramic roof for support rafters or beams,which are ment to protect against wind damage from power full major hurricanes!
Some homes are equipped with hot water and regular water supply.
