Hey, I am doing an assessment on the French Revolution as we speak and as I remember they actually ate near to nothing. As Louis' wife said when royals said 'the commons have no bread' she said 'let them have cake.' Sorry but I know that wasn't alot of help.
bread
Yes people ate. The food supply was in peril, but it never reached the level of mass starvation.
The main thing that INSPIRED it was the American revolution. It inspired the French to create their own constitution, because they also wanted freedom and liberty and to be rid of absolute monarchy. France also helped to supply Americans weapons, at that time France and America were allies to defeat the British.
In the years 1787 - 1789, terrible weather, heavy rain, hard winters and too hot summers led to three very bad harvests in France. This led to peasants and farmers having smaller incomes, while food prices rose sharply
This quotation is popularly attributed to Marie Antoinette, the wife of King Louis XVI and the last Queen of France. In response to the news that the French peasants had no bread and were starving, she allegedly said, "let them eat cake." However, she never actually said that. Even though the quotation is attributed to her, it was actually spoken a century before by Marie-Therese, wife of Louis XIV. It was a callous and ignorant statement and she, Marie Antoinette, was neither. See the Related Links below. The quote was: 'Let them eat brioche' but its unlikely that she ever said this. (A brioche is a very enriched bread, more like a cake.)The expression first appeared in The Confessions of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, completed in 1769 when Marie Antoinette was 13, where he wrote:"Enfin je me rappelai le pis-aller d'une grande princesse à qui l'on disait que les paysans n'avaient pas de pain, et qui répondit : Qu'ils mangent de la brioche."Translation:"Finally I recalled the last resort of a great princess who was told that the peasants had no bread, and who responded: "Let them eat brioche."This is the only recorded use of the expression. The 'great princess' was clearly someone else.
Nothing. They lived poorly, paid high taxes, were usually cold, and didn't have enough money for good food or clothing.
bread .
The phrase "let them eat cake" is said to have been from Marie Antoinette during the French Revolution. Marie Antoinette was part of the royal family, but during the French Revolution, when her palace was raided and she was overthrown, it is believed that she said "let them eat cake," referring to the peasants of the country, who could not have before that eaten something as luxurious and fancy as cake. The peasants never received any cake, and it has not been proven that Marie Antoinette ever said that now famous line. Many historians believe it was very unlike her to say something like that and not realistic that she actually did. After her fall from the castle, after the revolutionaries had usurped power, Marie Antoinette was sentenced to the guollitine, and died from that beheading.
Peasants were treated like they were trash. Just thrown out there, not a big deal. They didnt have anything to eat
Marie Antoinette was queen of France (husband Louis XVI) were rulers during the French Revolution in the 1700s. Because of the revolution, both were killed by revolting peasants. They were killed by the guillotine, a more "humane" way of killing criminals that involves quickly dropping a blade to decapitate them. There are a few other things important to note during this time:Marie Antoinette and her husband were no older than sixteen during the time, and they were RULING a whole COUNTRY!Marie Antoinette did NOT say the well-known "Let them eat cake," to the peasants. That is a rumor and is NOT true. Thisi s merely a metaphor designed to show how out of touch the royalty were with the poor.
The peasants were unhappy because they lacked food to eat, and to survive. Also King Louis IVV forced them to pay taxes. The King did nothing to stop the local aristocrat's animals wandering all over their land eating the crops. They worked at farms for nothing, the amount of money they get paid was little or nothing while the aristocrats had plenty. It sort of can be compared to the way things are going now with gas prices, sooner or later the "peasants" will get tired of being gouged by the oil companies and bring them down. And... not to mention... the peasants were at the bottom of the social class. they didnt have many rights, so they couldn't get different or better jobs.

food
She is mainly remembered for causing the French deficit to grow and bankrupting France. She is remembered for her lavish life style and the quote "Let them eat cake." She is also remembered for being guillotined during the French Revolution
i was told that peasants didnt eat much. They had to get by mainly on veg and fruit that they grew.
They suffered a lot of pain and acted as slaves most of the time. They had NO money and could not afford any good clothes. Peasants were treated poorly and didn't have enough to eat. It was very hard and sad.
They used to use their fingers !
