Best Answer

The Sun shines because energy is released from converting hydrogen nuclei into helium nuclei. Actually, there are several reactions involved, but that's the basic overall reaction.

It's an example of "nuclear fusion". The energy released is because of Einstein's famous equation E=mc2.

At the very center of the Sun is a nuclear furnace which is converting Hydrogen into Helium and in the process, releasing enormous amounts of energy, mainly in the form of gamma rays. The rest of the Sun serves as an insulator, slowing down these rays until they come out at last as light and heat.

Pound for pound, the Sun isn't as hot as a human body (or any mammal), but it's just so big.

The sun crated LIGHT. Without the sun you cannot have lunar or solar eclipses. I mean who does not love eclipses. However do not LOOK DIRECTLY IN THE SUN because you will go blind. So don't look at the sun.

It is a big ball of fire with burning gases. The fire makes the sun shine and gives it heat. :)

The sun will burn out in 5 billion years. :)
