Some women did fight in World War 2. Some were nurses, some had desk jobs, and some were spies. Some were just women in the line of fire.

Over 2 and 1/2 million US forces fought in World War 2. 300,000 women served in the forces in both theaters and in the home front. They did not have to fight in the infantry but trust me there were women who did have to shoot a few enemies (especially the spies).
