Index of refracting or refracting Index is the measure of light ray passing from one medium. When light passes through an acrylic prism, the light refracts or bends and separates making color of yellow, blue, red, green, orange and violet. The separation of colors is also called dispersion. The index of refraction for each colors are different. Sample is, red light is a little different from violet light in terms of angle refraction. Also, for every medium, index of refraction are different too.
