The American Indian had no immunity built up against diseases that the Europeans brought to this land which caused the sheer number of deaths of the number of natives. The Indians were exposed to measles, scarlet fever, chicken pox, diphtheria and cholera. The most devasting disease was small pox. The unthinkable act was that the government would intentially expose the Indians to small pox ladened blankets to kill them off.

There are quite a few. However, the most prominent was small pox. Syphilis and measles were a close second and third. Cholera, typhus, chlamydia, mumps as well as a variety of fevers were also introduced. Most of the diseases were from the livestock brought over aboard ships.
