100 yards is the most effective distance to sight in primarily. However, if you know the distance your rifle will be performing at, then sight in as close to that as you can. For instance, if you are going to be hunting open land i.e Wyoming, then youll most likely want to be set in at 200 considering typically, you will be shooting longer distances. For regular white tail hunting, 100 yards is perfect.
.243 or a 25-06
A 25-06... That's just me
Maybe. Depends on where the deer is shot, from what distance. Much more likely to WOUND the deer- which is why in most US states, it is not legal to deer hunt with a .22 rimfire.
That will depend on the individual. Some will prefer a shotgun and others a rifle.
.223 (maybe) definitely a .243. The BEST deer rifle is a 25-06 (Long story short .223 = good not much effect, .243 = GREAT for beginner, later on you will want a 25-06. 2-06 = BEST!)
If i have a rifle in my hands they are...
Varmits to deer.
Only when you need aiming. Which is mostly never. Roe deer hunting in Scandinavia or Turkey hunting in the US might be examples of exceptions.
