The Romans were basically healthy eaters. Their diet mainly consisted of fresh fruits and veggies. whole grains and freshly baked breads. Yes, I know that you hear of their banquets where peacock eggs and stuffed dormouse, and sow's udder were eaten, but these were special occasions put on by the rich to try to outdo other rich and were not an everyday occurrence. Their basic, everyday diet was rather plain, with honey as a sweetener and garum a a spice.

The Romans had three meals a day, just a we do. The size and content of the meals would depend on the person's wealth. We hear a lot about the lavish banquets that the wealthy would sometimes host and sometimes get the idea that the Romans only ate one meal. This is a misconception.
