Different Christians may come up with different ideas as to the "main ideas." But I can tell you what this Christian thinks. Main ideas: God exists. God communicates to us, through The Bible, other people, nature, our conscience. We can communicate to God through prayer, our actions and valuing what God loves. Life has meaning, more than we can see, a meaning that goes beyond death. There are standards as to how we should behave and what we should value. We can not possibly meet God's standards. We all fall short. (Christian may use the word "sin"." This separates us from God and life after death.) Despite our nature to be imperfect, God loves us. So God comes into the human world to give us a few messages: Love others as yourself and love God above all us (God's greatest commandment). Don't just be concerned about your behavior, but also your heart, (for example, don't just avoid murder, avoid anger in your heart and have good will and love toward others. Don't just avoid adultery avoid lust and the things that arouse lust. Don’t just seek your own goals, care for and help those who are less fortunate than you. Don’t just avoid stealing, avoid wanting and being jealous about what others have. Take care of yourself, by resting one day a week (Sunday) to think about God, spending time with friends and reenergizing from a week of work and responsibilities. And when you can’t meet the standards that God sets, confess to God and ask for help in the form of wisdom, strength, courage, creativity, strength to meet God’s standards in the future. There was also another main message: you do not need a priest, pastor or other religious leader to tell you what a follower of God is (although they can help you.) God wants you to come to him directly with a sincere heart. (God came to earth and criticized the religious leaders of his time, how they followed all the rules, but lost the meaning of compassion, love and connection to God.) I hope this helps you.

Daniel is important to Christians today, because the prophecies contained in the book of Daniel are relavant for us today, and they tell us who will be the main players in the end times. The prophecies of Daniel and Revelation go together and help explain each other.

While the main cruxt of the text will be the same no matter the publisher, there will be subtle differences among the publishing companies.
