When we did our exposed concrete finish we used white sugar. This was a process used by our concrete finisher. He mixed it like a syrup and sprayed the forms. I used regular granulated sugar because it was a flat surface and I didn't have a sprayer... could try it on a small project first.
This term may be referring to a carpenter who "forms" concrete. That is setting forms to place concrete into for walls, floors, footings and such.
Plywood would be very ideal for concrete forms given its ability to produce smooth surfaces and to be used repeatedly.
Usually in construction, the end process of building something. It connotes skilled labor and attention to details. The opposite would be called "framing" or "roughing in". Putting up walls and joists would be considered "framing", putting up drywall, taping, and painting would be considered "finish work". Building or hanging cabinets would be considered framing, adding trim, molding, and knobs and such would be finish work.
