A Category Supervisor oversees one or more categories of interest. Often, those employed (or hobbyists) in a certain field will choose to supervise their category of expertise.
Similar to the Category Supervisor, the Floaters are without the responsibilities of overseeing a certain area of the site. Floaters can be activity-specific (i.e. recategorization, question-editing, etc.) or non-specific.
They oversee the happenings in the categories and ensure that unwanted posts/answers are removed and to keep the site in tip top shape.

∙ 11y agoSenior supervisors look after all the top categories here on answers.com. They are normally responsible for one top category on the category tree, which can include many sub categories. They work with their fellow category supervisors within that top category to keep it in tip top shape, ensuring that questions are featured, merged, unflagged, nonsense removed and of course answer questions.
Senior supervisors help out all supervisors on the site, passing on knowledge, support and insight. They will offer guidance and when requested and may help resolve very minor conflicts before matters escalate to dispute resolution.
In addition, some Senior Supervisors have extra 'tools' which enable them to perfom other necessary duties, such as permanently deleting inappropriate questions, editing the profile pages of contributors who post profanity, obscenity, nudity, etc. on them, and refuse to delete the offending material themselves, and to help contributors and fellow supervisors in any way they can.
Senior Supervisors are also to set a good example of working together as a community to ensure Answers.com remains the top quality question and answer site on the web that it is today, displaying the utmost professionalism at all times.
