What do actinides share?

They all only share two main characteristics:

1) they are all in the 7th row on the Periodic Table of elements (a full one, without the actinide and lanthanide groups seperated.)

2) they are all radioactive.

a debatable third is that they are all 5f block elements, though Lawrencium, which is actually a d block element, is generally accounted as an actinide, which is why this third point is debatable.

Why is plutonium part of the actinides family group?

Plutonium is part of the actinides family group because it has similar chemical properties to other elements in the actinide series. It has a partially filled 5f orbital, which contributes to its characteristic behavior and placement on the periodic table. Additionally, the actinides share properties related to their electron configuration and position within the periodic table.

What family is Americium in?

Americium is in the Actinide family of elements. It is a synthetic element with the symbol Am and atomic number 95. Actinides are a series of elements in the periodic table that have properties similar to actinium.

Why are the nuclear structures of the actinides more important than the electron configuration's of the actinides?

Because the nuclei of actinides are unstable and spontaneously break apart, all actinides are radioactive.
