Religious politicians

Answer:

As Atheism only relates to those peoples' position on the existence of a deity, the individual atheist can have any fear he or she chooses - snakes, Spiders, clowns, cats, nuclear war, cancer - whatever. As far as fears resulting from their atheism not any. After all what adult, having abandoned the belief in a monster under the bed, fears what happens if the monster is really there?

Do atheists lack the values of the holy?

No. Atheists in general have the same moral and ethical values as do Christians and members of other religions. If there is a difference, it is that atheists hold the values that they do hold because they believe in their intrinsic merit, rather than in the hope of reward or fear of hellfire. Apart from religious faith, atheists do not lack values attributed to followers of religions.

How could an atheist's lack of belief in God affect his or her perception of family?

It depends on how the family would perceive the atheist. Atheists in today's society are the last pariah, and many atheists fear telling their families about their lack of belief in their family's traditional god. The perception may be based upon fear in this case. However, I have found that the importance of a family to an individual is unconditional, whether one believes in a god or not.

What kind of problems do atheists have?

The main problem faced by atheists is the discrimination brought about by the mischaracterization of atheists and misconceptions about atheism promulgated from the pulpits of many religious groups. Believers are extremely uncomfortable with those who choose not to believe in the supernatural. Misconceptions have been spread from the pulpit for centuries that atheists have no morals and values, they deny religion so they can all be libertines and do as they please, and that they are all doomed to spend eternity in hell. Religion was born out of fear of the unknown and religionists fear those who don't share that fear. Moral behavior and values can be adopted without religion. They benefit the human community and don't need religion to teach nor prove their value. There are good and bad people in every group of humans, both believers and non-believers.
