Bearded dragons eat a diet of insects and green, leafy plants. In captivity, a staple diet consists of leafy green such as collards, mustard greens, turnip tops, and dandelion greens, with a bit of grated squash or carrot, offered daily.

Crickets, zophobas, silk worms, wax worms, and feeder roaches are common insects used. Calcium and vitamin supplements should be used. Insect meals are offered 3 times per day for hatchlings, and 2 or 3 times per week for adults.
