Chihuahuas mainly like to be your best friend. They want to do a lot of things with you. Doing everyday things, like taking them for a car ride will excite them. I know mine loves going to the park and playing with a frisbee. He also likes to stay inside and chase a ball I bounce. They aren't the most sporty, but if they are with the people they love, they are usually happy.
They like to run and play. They are very inquisitive, playful, and loving. I think what probably sets them apart from other dog breeds their size is that they are curious in a shy way.
They love spending time with their humans...as I type this mine is nestled in the chair next to me. Anywhere you go they want to follow. Playing with them can be a bit trickier than larger dogs, they are not as rough and tough boned. But they do like to play wrestle and do all the same things larger dogs do. They love to go for walks, short walks are best for them. They love to lay in your lap and be loved on. Mine sleeps with me, she nestles under the covers by my stomach. She loves to go for rides in my truck. They really do like all the stuff that bigger dogs like, just on a smaller scale. The thing that I have noticed is that because of my chi's size, I hold her and cuddle her much more than if she were a larger dog. Our bond is much closer than I've had with any other previous dogs that I have owned...black lab and Irish setter. While I loved both those dogs, the bond with them was not nearly as close as it is with my chi. My black lab and Irish setter were both more independent, where my chi seems to need my companionship more. When I'm sitting watching a movie and I get up to go to the bathroom, my chi will get up and go with me...my lab and setter would of never have done that. Chi's are much more dependent on their owners.
Chihuahuas like to run, fetch, and play tug. All the things other dogs like to do they like to do, but on a smaller scale. Mine will play fetch and tug for hours if I'd let her. And she loves to run, when excited she'll do figure 8's at high speed. Because of their small size rough housing with them must be much more gentle than with a larger dog. Mine loves to play wrestle, so I have to be very careful with her. Most chi's don't like playing with small children because they tend to pull on their ears and tails. There is also the fear that smaller children may fall on them, this could cause serious injury or even death to a chi. Chi's can spend all day dragging around an old stuffed toy, it'll keep them entertained for hours. Mine has a stuffed Mickey Mouse dog toy, that's rather large and she'll play tug by herself by pulling on one end while sitting on the other end.
Be head of the household. Have their own way. Direct all activities of the home including what time everyone must go to bed. I have never met a more decisive, independent and yes loving if you are on the "a" list animal in my life. This dog actually has adds on TV we must turn the channel because he hates them so much and they are not always in any way animal related. One is the chairmaster add. I could go on and on but this dog directs 2 80 year olds 2 take their pills, get in the shower, give him his treats and lets them know when the birdfeeder is empty. Loves cats by the way and they like him! Favorite things? Canned no salt string beans (for diet cause he's a moose), riding shotgun in the car, tearing woodchuck stuffed animals apart (He's 11, we've bought 16 woodchucks)....his own blanket on the bed, his own bed on the floor, closets to hide in....etc Wouldn't trade for anything....New Hampshire
They love to do all the things other dogs do...play, eat, sleep...but I think their most favorite thing is spending time with their "people"...meaning people they love. With a chi their are 4 types of people... people they love, people they like, people they tolerate and people they absolutely hate. If you are in the loved category you are really lucky...nothing better in the world than have that little chi head come at you with little chi lick kisses. Chi's can be a pain in the butt, because they are always 1 foot behind you...but they are well worth the trouble.
Chihuahuas love to dig. It is in their nature.
They also like to kill rats and mice as the used to be bred for that, as well as the Jack Russell.
They love to play with their owners and be loved, but don't treat them too much like a baby, or they will demand alot and if you don't give it to them they will resort to violence.
Chihuahuas like lots of toys some even like toys that are to big for them. Make sure that you are always calm with them and give them a lot of attention.

No. Chihuahuas are a breed of dogs. Vermin means things like rats, cockroaches, animals or insects that carry disease.
well they are not afraid of Chihuahuas but they are afraid of mice but it's not like when they see it it's like a stampede its more like a stop and move back and away. (hope this helps) =]
