That God sent Jesus (the Christ, or "anointed one") to pay the sin debt for mankind.
That one needs to accept the payment (or "redemption") to enter heaven. (Called "salvation" or "being saved.")
You might contrast this with Islam, which teaches that there is no Original Sin, but that people sin for themselves and no one can save them for sure, although by devoting themselves to rituals, (confession, prostrations, alms, fasting and pilgrimage) and obeying the orders of their clergy, they may achieve "success," working themselves into paradise.
Christians believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and is coming back for his children.
