Good Friday is the day that Jesus Christ was condemned to death in Jerusalem by Pontius Pilot. He carried the cross to Calvary and was nailed to it. With his last breath he asked God to forgive his persecutors, for they did not know what they were doing.

∙ 14y agoIt commemorates the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ which began at 9 in the morning. He hung on the Cross until around 3 in the afternoon when he died, and was removed later that evening, before sunset, for burial.
on the Sunday following (that we commemorate as Easter Day) the tomb was found empty, and he appeared alive again, in a glorified state, to his disciples and to many hundreds of his followers.

Why does Good Friday fall on a Friday?
Good Friday is the day on which we remember Jesus being crucified. In the Gospels, Jesus was crucified on the day before the Sabbath (which was Saturday) to rise on the third day afterwards (on the Sunday).
