I think that the scientific name for vocal chords is LARYNX! If you look really closely at an image of the LARYNX, you'll see that is is surprisingly the vocal chords. I figured this out when I was 8-years-old! This is really simple. Look at an image and you'll see exactly what I am talking about! If you don't get it, keep looking! That is what i did. TTHHNNXX!!!!!

There are two or more notes in a chord. Guitar chords usually have three notes... look on wikipedia.com and look up guitar chords or musical chords or something Piano chords are usually 3 notes. Minor addition: "Chords" aren't usually three notes. Triads are three notes, but a chord can be any number of notes, 2 or more.
I believe she never had a throat surgery , instead she had a nose job .. and they made it seem like it was about her throat , have you not wondered where she was hiding the whole time . look at old photos of her and the new ones and notice the difference !!
Because just like we look different on the outside, we also are different on the inside. Vocal chords, voice box(larynx), throat, palate, sinuses. the shape of all of the above differ some from person to person. On top of that comes how we use them. How we exhale as we speak, how we shape the sounds. It all comes together to influence what we sound like.
