I own a mourning dove and a ringneck dove. They enjoy eating millet spray (you can buy a bag of millet spray for a couple dollars at a grocery or pet store), a variety of seeds (I go to the grocery store and buy the one that is specifically for doves, it has a picture of a dove on it), and sometimes crackers.
They are seed and grain eaters so any good birdseed containing millet, corn, wheat, etc. will do. Some varieties of doves prefer to eat only what is visible; others prefer to dig for seeds in the ground. It would be best to put out your feed in both a flat open, bowl and sprinkle on either ground or cage until you know which variety you have.
