Take it from somebody who is a lawyer! uniqua whitakerIt might depend on where you live. For example, it is okay to wear a linen suit in Miami, or a nice business dress that has a high neckline and falls below the knee. Sandals are generally not considered acceptable anywhere. Save the black suit for a dinner function, unless it is in a tweed fabric or pinstripes. Pant suits are acceptable, unless you are going on a job interview, in which case skirts are advised. Navy and grey skirt suits are the most professional. Different styles are cut for different figures obviously, but be open because a good tailor can turn a good suit into the perfect suit. Wool fabrics used in men suits with Italian cuts are nice when paired with a crisp light pink or blue brooks brothers shirt, cuff links, and antique watch. Some women prefer fitted suits with traditional colors, while others go for more political style (wearing red or royal blue). Young and modern lawyers like to opt for a Psuedo British banker style that is-- pretentious. Stay cool but traditional, classic lines don't change much. Young lawyers in line with classic style can't go wrong. You'll not only gain the respect of your mentors, but who knows what stuffy judge you'll have to face. Navy can be worn with black shoes. but for women, the best match is Navy. If you can't go for Ferragamo', Nine West pumps are affordable and look great with suits. Check your local Syms and DSW for deals. Good Luck.

That depends on what they are doing. When they go to court, they normally wear a conservative suit. Business casual is appropriate for working at the office an meeting with personal clients.
