They're a brownish yellow color, and a little translucent. It has a black eye, and long legs. I don't know the term, but it's back area is very big, yet a small head. You can see one at the related link.
No, a flea looks like a flatened bug with legs below its' body whereas a tick is a flattened bug that have legs either side of its' body. A tick must be removed without squashing it and in an anti-clockwise movement. Ticks burrow into a persons (or animals) skin and bury their whole head inside the skin whereas the flea tends to hang around on top of the skin and "just" suck blood from sinking their teeth into the flesh. Make sure you remove the whole tick including the head. They are large carriers of disease and if they are taken off without removing the head then the bacteria they hold can cause septicemia which is also known as blood poisoning and can be fatal.
Fleas: are mostly the external blood sucking parasites. The exoskeleton is very hard and has strong legs which help these insects in jumping. The body is usually flat which makes it very easy to move on the skin of the pet. Fleas are parasites which feed on blood.
Ticks: are blood-feeding parasites that are often found in tall grass where they will wait to attach to a passing host. The exoskeleton is very Soft.
Ticks can be found in most wooded or forested regions throughout the world.
Fleas are small gray, black, red, or brown bugs that are very small.

No. Fleas themselves cannot have fleas, but they can have these things called "mites".
Gnats do not jump, they fly. However, if you have insects that look like gnats and jump, you may have fleas.

I've recently discovered an infestation of these critters in my bathroom, and will soon be massacuring them. All i can tell you is that they are of the order Syphonoptera (like fleas), but are definitely not cat, dog, or human fleas. i recommend a fogger like Raid, and manual spraying. Good luck! p.s. they bite!
Pets are a convenient source of food for fleas.
