Giraffes, like many wild animals, travel in groups. They forage for food, spending a great part of every day chomping and tearing off leaves from the highest branches of trees. Also like other wild animals, they must find water sources. Usually, the paths to food and water are well established as places their mothers, and their mothers, and so on have visited through hundreds of years.
Giraffes mate and mothers care for their babies. They must be most vigilant against predators which try to isolate the babies first.
Giraffes cannot lay down because their necks are so heavy they would be unable to stand without human assistance. So they sleep standing up. At any given time, some in the group may be sleeping while others are awake.
Like most wild animals living in high temperatures, giraffes battle insects. So you might likely see giraffes swatting their tails or stamping a foot because an insect is annoying them. They have long eyelashes which helps keep insects from their eyes.
Giraffes don't do much. They spend the majority of their time sleeping, eating, or just nothing, really.
To say giraffes "don't do much" is to express ignorance in the matter at best, and at worst to reference them to humans, to which they have little in common.
To mention but one element that encompasses their day, giraffes enjoy eating acacia leaves, which, if you're unfamilure with the plant, are most challenging to get at. Acacia bushes are filled with thorns, which is why giraffes have exceptionally long tounges, that they may negotiate around these thorns without unecessary impalement.
Then, as if that weren't enough, they have to circle their tongue around the leaves and pull them out through the thorns. Sound easy my naive friend? You should try it. But if you do, please let me know when and where...I'd love to watch.
They eat an average of 75 pounds of leaves a day. At two or three leaves a pull, how long do you think it would take to eat 75 pounds? Pretty much all day. As a matter of fact, giraffes average about 20 minutes of sleep a day, not a very significant amount as you suggest in your less than informed menaingless chatter...
Survive. Being in the wild is very tuff. There is no time for play, unless you are young. Then, you can run around, but they have to stay close to their Mother because they are always in danger of being prey.
They sing this little diddy right here...
What do tigers dream of, when they take a little tiger snooze.
Do they dream of mauling zebras, or Halle Berry in her catwoman suit.
Don't you worry your pretty stripped head we're gonna get you back to Tyson and your cozy tiger bed.
And they we're gonna find our best friend Doug and then we're gonna give him a best friend hug.
Doug, Doug, Oh, Doug Douggie Douggie Doug Doug.
But if he's been murdered by crystal meth tweekers, well then we're out of luck.
