It would be good to have sand instead of stones as the fish llike to dig around in the sand and they like to eat all the little backteria things in it and spit it back out again.

They also like bits of Driftwood or wood that you can buy at pet stores. They like little objects to swim around and hide in so a fish bowl isn't a good idea unless you have a rather large one to fit bigger things in.

In my fish tank I put live plants in - but after about a month the fish had nibbled of a leaf as they sometimes consider live plants as food. You can also put fake plants in which are probably more recommended as you can get a wider range of colour and they are also slightly cheaper (I think!).

These are the basics of a fish tank, and you can also put rocks in there too to make it look smore natural. (If you go into a pet shop, they normally have little ornaments in there too. These are nice for little children.)

Hope This Helps!!!!!!!!!!

fish tank of at least 20 gallons (per fish), water, food, net, filter, light, aerator, and a method to clean their tanks. such as a gravel vacuum

basically, if you're getting a fish, find a book on their care. if you have gotten one and are not sure what to do, get a tank for them and water dechlorinator. now, not regular water -- the chlorine and chloramines found in tap water will kill most fish. what you want to do is fill a large bottle with it and let it sit for a few days. this will get rid of the toxins within the water so that the fish will be healthy. An easier way to do this is to go to the petstore and buy a container of dechlorinator that clearly states that it removes chlorine and chloramines. put this into the tank, but beforehand wait a few hours for it to turn to room temperature and then add the fish. you have to acclimate them first though: let them float in their baggy in the water for about 15 minutes before introducing them. fish are notorious for being extremely sensitive to sudden changes in environment. when you have them adjusted, and in the tank, go to your nearest supermarket or petstore and get some fish food. be careful not to feed them too much though, because they will overeat and get constipated. to clean their tank you should clean out the sides of their tank using an aquarium sponge and do a 25%-50% water change, put in dechlorinated water into the tank. This task should be performed every 3-7 days.

I hope this helps, and good luck with your fish! All they really need is 7.5 litres of water filter pebbles breathing weeds a net and if necessary a light but u don't need one

you will need all the basic stuff like there food and all. For a small goldfish you will need at least a 12l tank. This will only house one fish and if you are thinking of getting more then you are going to need to get a bigger tank. Run the tank for a week with the filter running before adding any fish. Feed your fish at least once a day and only as much as the fish will eat in 2 minutes. You don't want to over feed your fish. If you go away on holiday, however, don't worry too much as your fish will last up to a week without any food and possible a little longer but it's good to have a plant in when you go away as the fish can eat that. The holiday blocks they sell in stores is not the best choice for a small tank with not many fishes because it might be a little to much for them and it will get your water dirty.

Goldfish need water to swim and breath in, not mud. There are some species of fish that have evolved to survive in mud but Goldfish are not one of those species.

Swordtail with common goldfish in your pond?

A swordtail is a tropical fish and a goldfish is not. The swordtail would need a higher temp. than the goldfish. Depending on where you live it probably wouldn't survive the winter.
