Diwali is celebrated throughout India, as well as in Indian communities throughout the diaspora. It usually takes place eighteen days after Dusshera. In urban areas, especially, candles are substituted for diyas.
There are two gods that we worship for diwali. The first one that we worship mostly for diwali is Lakshmi because she was the goddes of light. And we worship the god Ram because he came back from his excile on the day of diwali.
Hindus celebrate Diwali with great joy . They give each other sweets and gifts. At night they worship lord Ganesha and Goddess Laxmi and light diyas.
