In the small intestine most food is digested. The digestive system's organs work to make the food you eat soluble, so your body can absorb the energy (glucose). Once the churned up food is in the small intestine which is covered in villus (like a brush) the microvilli on the villus, to increase the surface area further, absorb all of the soluble glucose. Inside of the villus are capillaries that absorb most of the churned up food. But fatty acids called LIPID cannot be absorbed, so the lacteal running though the middle of the villus absorbs the fatty acids.

:) hope that helped?

What structure in villi absorbs and transports fats?

Lacteal absorbs fatty acids. Glycerol is absorbed by both , blood capillaries and lacteal .

What body system is the lacteal found?

The lacteal is found in the small intestine. It serves the purpose of absorbing fats from the gut into the bloodstream.

The small intestine is covered in millions of villi what are villi and what is their job?

Villi are fingerlike projection from a surface and in the intestine they are one cell thick with blood vessels and lacteal. The funciton is to increase the surface area of the intestine and so increasing the ammount of absorption.

What does the villi absorb nutrients from the small intestine to?

Most nutrients are absorbed directly into the blood but fats are taken into the lacteal (part of the lymphatic system)

What liquid is in lacteal?

Lacteal Fluid

Where are the fatty acids and glycerol transported to once absorbed by the lacteals?

A lacteal is a lymphatic capillary that absorbs dietary fats in the villi by the enzyme lipase, resulting in a mixture of fatty acids and monoglycerides.

What are villi microvilli and lacteals?

In the ileum, (3rd part of small intestine after the 1st, duodenum, then the 2nd, jejunum) is where the villi and microvilli are. The villi are folds of the illeum wall, and their purpose is to increase the surface area. They are finger-like projections. These folds, or finger-like projections, have further projections on their surface. So in other words the villi have villi on them. But they are called microvilli. They are also to further increase surface area. The villi and microvilli are there for absorption. This is where most of the absorption of the nutrients from digestion occur(a fraction in the stomach wall). These nutrients are absorbed by diffusion into a capillary in the villi. Except for the fatty acids, which are absorbed by the lacteal in the villi. The villi are very thin. This allows diffusion to occur easier as it is close to the surface. The capillary and lacteal are close to the surface for the same reason. The villi are also semi-permeable, allowing only certain molecules to diffuse, and not diffuse the other way round. The nutrients, absorbed by the capillary in the villi, are now in the blood stream where they can be used as energy and proteins are sent to the liver to be broken down into amino acids to be arranged into the protein again that the body wants. Eventually some nutrients become part of your tissue (assimilation)I hope this somewhat helps. :)but hey, im 16, what do I know. you may want to check I'm right. :)

What sorts or substances pass into the lacteal inside the villi?

Lacteals are lymphatic vessels that absorb mostly fats and other nutrients from the small intestine. It closely resembles blood plasma in composition but has a lower percentage of protein and is isotonic.

What do lacteal do?

The lacteal absorbs the products of lipid digestion from the small intestine to the bloodstream.

What is inside a villi?

Villi are found in the small intestine. They help in increasing the surface area of the small intestine.

How does the body gets nutrients from food when it is eaten?

Much of the nutrients are absorbed by the small intestine, where the surface area is minimized by the villi, which absorbs the "soup" of food that has been digested by the duodenum, the stomach, and the mouth. The soup is absorbed by diffusion and reaches either the lacteal or capillaries. Lacteal carries fat, and blood vessels carries everything else such as glucose. The absorbed nutrients can now be used by the body.

What are lymphatic vessels around the small intestines called?

They are called lacteals.
