We have a small Mandir or a temple where our various forms of gods and goddess are placed. We worship them after talking a bath in the morning and in the evening. We give them a bath and apply scented ashtagandha, haldi, kumkum and adorn them with flowers. We say our stotras burn incense sticks and an oil lamp. We also have holy books which we read once a day.
Remembering God or worshipping is process that helps you in your spiritual progress. For many, it is easier if they have a picture of God and do a few rituals everyday; which in turn reminds them of their position with respect to God. It may not be possible to visit a temple everyday. Hence, they worship God at home.
1)According to Hinduism- "Bhagavan Sarvantaryamee Asti" - The God is omnipresent. So whether you worship him in a temple or in home, it doesn't matter at all!
2) And most importantly Brahmins have to perform a kind of pooja called Sandhyavandanam daily three times. The "accessories" needed are kept in separate rooms to maintain purity and should be used there only and they should not be touched by any other. So this makes them to worship in home.
According to Hinduism worship in home means that whole house will be sacred. Thus many Hindu have Temple in their houses.
most of the Hindus have idol of lord. Sometimes they have Sacred Texts & Scriptures of Hinduism.
