Clarinet! Clarinet has almost the exactly same finering as recorder! For the upper register, you do the EXACT same fingering as you would do in recorder! The middle and lower register is similar to the fingering in recorder. Also since both recorder and clarinet is plugging up holes, they are almost exactly the same! Flute is the hardest instrument in the world! For flute you have to position your mouth and blow the right air to play notes! On flute, it is very hard to play lower and upper register. On clarinet it's easy! Flute is hard like trying to find out all the numbers in pi.

To answer your question on what is a clarinet. It is a woodwind. You do not know what a woodwind is well I know. There is different woodwinds there is a clarinet, flute, saxaphone, and oboes. Nobody knows where the clarinet got it's name. I just play the clarinet.
Flute is easy... Saxophone is easy to play if you have played the recorder. Also clarinet is easy to play.

The audience
In a standard orchestra, there are four groups: flutes, oboes, clarinets & bassoons. Each group has alternate instruments the players are sometimes called upon to play. Flute players also use piccolo and alto flute. Clarinet players also play e-flat clarinet and bass clarinet. Oboe players are required to play English horn as well. And bassoon players can double up on contrabassoon. Occasionally a piece will call for a saxophone or two- many flute and clarinet players are able to play sax, though sometimes a saxophonist is called in.
