Clarinet! Clarinet has almost the exactly same finering as recorder! For the upper register, you do the EXACT same fingering as you would do in recorder! The middle and lower register is similar to the fingering in recorder. Also since both recorder and clarinet is plugging up holes, they are almost exactly the same!
Flute is the hardest instrument in the world! For flute you have to position your mouth and blow the right air to play notes! On flute, it is very hard to play lower and upper register. On clarinet it's easy! Flute is hard like trying to find out all the numbers in pi.
Honstly, Think it's what you want to play. But, if you would like to know, the clarinet would be the easiest.

a recorder, for one thing is played like a clarinet........................................................but a blockflute is not played like a clarinet......................
No but it is the same as the trumpet & piano(Afgncaap8 disagrees, saying that clarinet music isdifferent from flute, and that it is the same as trumpet, but the clarinet has different music than the piano! The piano is a C instrument, whereas the typical trumpet and clarinet tend to be tuned to B-flat. However, usually the flute and the piano are both tuned to C, so their music could be the same.)
Recorder or clarinet

the recorder is prop looking down like a clarinet and the flute is prop in front of you and to the side. the recorder does not come in a lot of sizes, but the flute has tons of different sized instruments like there is the bass flute witch can be bigger than you , and there is a piccolo witch is very small.

Flute is easy... Saxophone is easy to play if you have played the recorder. Also clarinet is easy to play.
You can transpose flute music for clarinet music. Flute is on concert pitch, most clarinets are not. Example: A flute's Bb is a clarinet's C. Bb= B flat

either clarinet or flute
You should go for it. As someone who plays the flute, I'd say it's almost as easy as playing the recorder. (I say almost because you have to blow across the hole. That only takes about 5 minutes to learn.) I know that a recorder is similar to a clarinet and I know many people who play both of those instruments. It has only taken me 7 years to get up to grade 7 so just go for it!
