Perhaps it would be best if you just turned over your cougar mountain lion to the authorities.
Currently, this animal does not officially live there. While at one time Mountain Lions lives all over the US, now they are concentrated in the western states. Their is also a small population in Florida. As a general rule, Mountain Lions do not live in the wild, in Massachusetts.
Due to the fact that mountain lions eat small mammals especially rabbits the population of the small mammals stays down, stopping over populations to disturb humans.

Yes they fight their prey while hunting, they fight other predators trying to steal their prey, and they sometimes fight each other over territory.
Yes, Mountain Lions do live in California. At one time they lived all over the US from the east Coast, to the West Coast. Now they are concentrated in the western states with a few in Florida.
Humans do, but Mountain lions make for a formidable adversary. Because Wolves hunt in packs, they have an advantage over their prey such as Elk and Deer. But those antlers can wound severely enough that the Wolf is unable to keep up with the pack, or survive by hunting alone.
To get food, wolves hunt, either alone or in packs. To get space (territory) some wolves have to fight over it. Most wolves find an open area and mark territory. Packs mark territory as well. Great question :)
