Over Eaters Anonymous is for all people who have some sort of problem with food. The meetings are there to help those who are compulsive overeaters and those with binge eating disorder. It can also be for bulimics and anorexics.

It could be because you have an addictive eating disorder like me. As explained in the book 'Alcoholics Anonymous' chapter 'The Doctor's Opinion' I found that when I started eating I got a craving to carry on until I literally could not get anymore in my mouth or I needed a great deal of will power not to eat. When I used my will power I would get constant urges to eat, almost as if the food in the fridge was commanding me to eat it. Fortunately a miracle happened to me and I surrendered and gave up struggling and found by taking the steps recommended by the organisation Overeaters Anonymous I had an 'entire psychic change' I can now just eat three meals a day with absolutely nothing in between, I rarely get food cravings and when I do I use the tools suggested by Overeaters Anonymous that usually helps the cravings diminish if not disappear. I keep going to Overeaters Anonymous and the bonus is I have lost about 150 pounds in weight gradually over a five year period. I have answered more than is asked and I cannot exactly explain why I used to still feel hungry when I had eaten more than enough, as now I do not do it the reason does not matter to me. There is plenty of information about Overeaters Anonymous on the Internet and they have meetings all over the world. The book Alcoholics Anonymous is also available on the Internet.

Overeaters Anonymous can work for some individuals, but not for others as the individual has to want to better themselves. Not eating enough or overeating can be psychological control over oneself because they cannot control other things in their life. Also, people who do not eat enough or too much should get a full physical from their doctor to be sure there is not another cause for their weight gain. If an individual is religious and believes in Jesus they can gain strength from that to help them stop overeating, but, if that individual is not buying religion or, they feel the control is taken away from them it may not work, but it's worth a good try.
