Possums that live in the city still feed on vegetation, fruit and nectar, as there are plenty of plants in suburban areas, causing possum populations to flourish. In addition, many possums have been known to feed on pet food that is left outdoors, while others are fed bread and honey by misguided homeowners.

∙ 14y agoIt depends on the species of possum. Many smaller Australian possums such as gliders eat insects, flowers and plant nectar. Larger possums such as the ringtail and brushtail possums will look for fruits as well, tending to prefer sweeter items. They will also eat bread and honey which people (foolishly) put out for them.
