I don't know but can someone help me?!
truth is he couldn't prove it he tryed to show the scientists that the continents could have drifted but the scientists did NOT believe him
Because the earth was thought to be made by god, and it was perfect and no continental crusts. The existence of continental crusts is one of the many evidence that proved Pangaea to be a theory. Also, the existence of the fossil records of the same species along the coastlines of 2 different places confirms Pangea. The current movements in earth's crust also provide evidence that Pangaea could have formed. Most scientists were not given this data and therefore the evidence for Pangaea was vague. Only now has the evidence shown more consistency. Science is skeptical my friend.
Well one is that fossils of the plant Glossopteris was found on all of the continents. Another reason could be the theory of Continental Drift/ Plate Tectonics. And you might be able to consider the Himalayan mountains a reason, because scientists believe that India drifted and smashed into Asia creating the mountain range.
It was Wegener, and 1) he had no idea why it was happening nor what could power it. 2) his idea of the rate of spread was way too high. & 3) He wasn't credentialed.
they did not believe him and thought he was crazy. they said that there was no way the continents were once connected that would have meant continents could move
Alfred Wegener did not have the "HOW" factor- because of no evidence on the process, they could not believe his theory.
Because scientists back then didn't want to believe that the earths plates could move or did move, especially on their own.
yes becouse wenger is not geologist and he could not explain the how continental drift theory
i believe the continental(granatic)crust is thicker than oceanic(basaltic)crust but i could be wrong
scientists back then didn't want to belive that the earths plates could move on there own
No, a porcupine's quills are not poisonous.
If you ask me it's because they wer a bunch of arogant "scientists" who didn't have a clue what they were talking about and hated being wrong. Just like with Galileo. They could have been scarred to accept things like that. I don't believe in it though... :) De Nada
Believed that scientists should rely on the bible.
truth is he couldn't prove it he tryed to show the scientists that the continents could have drifted but the scientists did NOT believe him
No, but scientists believe that there could have once been life on Mars.
Their environment changed and they could no longer survive.
Scientist rejected Wegners hypothesis of continental drift at first because he did not have enogh evidence to support his theory. He failed to provide a suitable mechanism that could cause the continents to move.
