It is important to maintain reverence ( respect for God). Ministers carry the communion in a small container called a pyx. They obtain communion immediately after a Mass, and transport it in a safe place and do not take it home for a prolonged period - it should be distributed as soon as possible and never stored overnight. In transport, care is taken to be respectful and unimportant conversatiion avoided. The pyx can be carried in a pocket or purse.
