What do you mean replace Remington? There is no replacement for Remington,in my eyes Remington is a very good gun.
More properly called the Model Four (spelled out, to differentiate from an antique model). They will bring $300-$350 in excellent condition.
Remington used a series of letters stamped on the barrel to indicate month and date of manufacture. IF the barrel is original to the gun, that should give you a pretty close answer. Letters are on the left side, just forward of the receiver. The Remington Collectors website has a chart of the letters, and the corresponding years.
