No battles . I think you are missing the point of the Cold War because there were no battles it was called "Cold". There were a few standoffs and threats, but for the most part it was the western powers looking at the communist dictatorship through the lens of containment.

I think it was in the mill of Harper's Ferry,VA. They used the Potomac River for the battles against slavery during the Civil War. One of the battles was because of John Brown.
A lot will depend on your location. In the northern hemisphere Canis Major can be seen during the Winter months.
