Sieve plates are cross walls separating the cells in the phloem and have lots of minute pores. These cross-walls look like a sieve and so are called sieve plates. The holes in the sieve plates allows rapid flow of manufactured food substances through the sieve tubes.

Actually I have found dinner plates that are square. They look really cool. Anyway maybe when they were first designed they wanted it to look like a never ending circle of food. Answer I like square plates, but suspect that food stays on round plates better.

The continents look the way they do today due to the movement of tectonic plates over millions of years. Plate tectonics have caused the continents to drift apart, collide, or slide past each other, leading to the current configuration. The reason the earth split apart is because of flooding, it kept pushing it back and back til the lands broke apart. I think the reason the land mass plates are like they are because of all the flooding around the world.
well this is what I do look at licence plates and look where they are from..... 1 advise is only do this if you like the states or know them all :)
