A Deist believes that there absolutely is an almighty "God" or "Creator" of the cosmos, but not necessarily that this said "God" or "Creator" belongs to any one religion. Here is a great resource: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deism
A deist or theist.
A theist is one who believes in God. The opposite term is atheist, who is one who does not believe in God.
The antonym of atheist is theist. An atheist is someone who does not believe that god(s) exist, or that there is no reason to believe that they exist. A theist is someone who believes that god(s) exist and that there is sufficient reason to believe that they exist.

God is not a Theist. He is the object of belief for theists. The common definition of a theist is one who holds a belief in the existence of at least one god - nothing more, nothing less. God is outside of time and space as we know it - and is the only True God and the creator of all that is seen and unseen- there are no others - he cannot be a theist as there is no "god" for him to believe in. And to say that he is a theist would be blasphemy - as one would cast doubt on God's assertion there are no gods but Me (Exodus 20:3)!
The word theist means someone who believes in a god.
Richard Dreyfuss has described himself as a believer in God, but does not affiliate with any specific religion. This would classify him as a theist.
