There is no specific term for large churches in Europe. However, the central church of a diocese, the seat of a bishop is called a cathedral and the word is sometimes used incorrectly to describe a large church.

Other descriptions for large churches are "minster" and "abbey" although, like cathedral, these both have specific meanings and don't serve to describe the size of a church building.
