The flowers of violets are an old fashioned treat. I remember having candied violets at summer teas as a child. I have since recreated them once or twice as an extra treat for friends. I also regularly add flowers to my salads, drinks and desserts, in the summer time. Not all flowers are edible, but the sweet violet or viola is.

African violets do not taste like grapes. I don't think they would be good for us to eat, although they are not poisonous unless you ate an abundance of them.
There are many different types of violets. The most common is the 'Blue Violet'. You can use Blue Violet in salads although the taste is very bland!

The flowers of violets look a little like little faces, and grow on relatively thin stems, so when the wind blows they sway with the wind and look like nodding faces.
African violets do not like direct sunlight because the leaves will be burned and unsightly spots will appear. They do need good light from the north or east window. They require 8 to 10 hours a day to bloom well. You can also grow violets using flourescent lighting. Give enough water to keep violets moist (not soaking wet) all the time.
No it is not. Violets is the plural noun of violet.
To me they look like violets.
