wolves can kill livestock and ungulates. they are good because they create a ecology of fear for the elk and deer, who stop eating in one location, and so there is more biodiversity. Because wolves have prevented deer and elk from eating certain plants, other species have thrived, like the beavers.
Wolves have a strong affect on nature. If wolves were gone ( wiped out by humans,) nature would be out of balance. The elk and caribou would over populate and eat all the grass they need. They would starve and die. How does this affect humans? If wolves were wiped out, the sick caribou would be hunted by hunters. The germs that made them sick would eventually get to the human consumer. They too would fall ill. They could die. The old, sick, and injured also wouldn't be put out of their misery of their suffering.
Wolves are predators.
These were the justifications for hunting them to extinction in many places.
A wolf is an apex predator, and preys on both larger and smaller animals.
Killing a wolf can mean that the wolf's smaller prey (small mammals) may increase in number, and eat more of the vegetation in the area. It could mean that a less healthy larger animal (deer, moose) may propagate rather than being eaten, which could affect the ongoing genetic traits of that population. Most importantly, killing an adult wolf of mating age means that there are fewer wolves to continue the species, so the effect (reduced predation) could multiply over time.
Wolves are secondary consumers, they eat primary consumers,if wolves died out, there would be more primary consumers and they would eat too much plants. That's how important wolves are!
They can eat you.

Big Bad Wolves - 2006 is rated/received certificates of: New Zealand:R16
because they thought that the wolves were hurting theirlivstock and they were afraid that the wolves would come after them.
cause it is bad luck
Of course NOT. People portray them as "big bad wolves", though they aren't really "harmful". People kill thousands of wolves, when wolves have only attacked around 10 people in 20 YEARS. They are scared of humans more than we are scared of them. They only attack if they have pups and you are trying to get close to them or if you are trying to kill it with your hands. Actually, I recommend reading a book called "Living With Wolves". There are these people who started to study wolves and the wolves bonded with them. The wolves even let them see the pups. It has a lot of great pics too.
Most definetly not! A howling dog means he is comunication or lonely or depressed.
This phrase is a metaphor describing a group of boys behaving aggressively or recklessly, similar to how wolves hunt together in a pack. It suggests that the boys may act in a coordinated and predatory manner when in a group.
Yes.
Good points are they keep the deer and elk population in check, they are beautiful animals, their howls are beautiful, and there are no bad points. Wolves are freakin' awesome.
Different people have different opinions on wolves. I would say wolves are awesome. I also love wolves, they get a bad rap for blowing down little pig houses and eating little red riding hoods, but they are fantastic animals!

They would attack livestock, which farmers didn't appreciate.
