Answer

Yes, nicotine is at least as addictive as heroin, if not more addictive.

Answer

I was asked this question by my nine year old niece. Well, actually it was "Christine, can you be addicted to cigarettes?" I said, "Well, there is a drug called nicotine inside of it that makes your brain crave more, it's telling your body that you need this to go on." I think I am correct. Do you? It's not the habit of lighting that first cigarette to your last, Did I miss anything?

Some people out there are just not affected by nicotine. I myself am a good example. I smoke cigarettes sometimes during social outings, but not all the time, and not at every social outing, and it's not hard to say no.

But, while I do enjoy the feel and look of smoking, I am buying electronic cigarettes - they are harm-free and come in many different flavours, therefore, I can smoke at all social outings, knowing that I'm not doing any harm to my body. ;)

There are a number of things you can call a nicotine addict. They are often smokers, though they may chew tobacco or dip snuff. They may be called tobacco addicts or nicotine addicts.
