You'd call them a wrecked tangle. This riddle is often used in association with math or geometry questions, which you have to solve in order to find the answer to the riddle. It works well in this aspect because a wrecked tangle is what the trains are after colliding, but also sounds similar to "a rectangle", which is a geometrical shape.
