A standard trumpet(not a piccolo)usually has three valves. However, the higher-pitched piccolo trumpet has four.
The play the note 'A' on trumpet, we use the valve combination 1+2. The top A in the staff is sometimes out of tune, and for that we use an alternate fingering that just consists of third valve alone.
The Bach Stradivarius line of trumpet models is generally considered their top trumpet.
First of all, for those who are very new to the trumpet, only use the oil you can buy in a music store. Never try to use a substitute that you just have lying around the house. Things like vegetable oil and motor oil do not go in a trumpet. Find the point at which the moving part of the valve (the part you push down) meets the body of the trumpet. You should be able to unscrew this part. Lift each valve out one at a time so you don't put them back in the wrong place. Squeeze some oil out of the bottle onto the large part (the part that goes inside the trumpet). You can also squeeze some inside the opening in which the valve would go, if necessary. Replace the valve and screw the top back on. When you replace the valve, you need to be sure that it goes in with the same orientation as when you removed it. Many modern trumpets come with a nice feature which will allow you to twist the valve until it clicks into place. Blow air through the trumpet and move the valve up and down to make sure air always moves through the trumpet. If air movement halts, it means you either put a valve in the wrong opening, or the valve was replaced incorrectly.
Clifford Brown played on a Blessing Artist model. You can see this trumpet on the cover of his Clifford with strings album. This trumpet is distinctive mainly because the third valve slide is on the bottom as opposed to being on top of the third valve slide that you see on conventional trumpets.
When you say top D, I'm not sure if you mean the D right above the "tuning note" C or the one above that. For the one directly above the tuning note C, the fingering is the 1st valve. For the D an octave above that, the fingering I use to make it easiest to play and most in tune is either just the 1st valve or often completely open, without any valves pressed down. Hope that helps. Keep up the trumpet playing!!

Without breaking it down to every last button and spring, a trumpet has 9 main parts: the main body, tuning slide, 3 valves, 3 valve slides, and the mouthpiece. Beyond that, there are top and bottom valve caps, finger buttons, valve springs, and other smaller bits and pieces.

PCV valve is located under the wiper blade assembly and cowling on top of the back valve cover. Raise the hood of the vehicle. Locate the PCV valve on the top center of the valve cover. Pull the hose off the top of the PCV valve. Pull the valve straight out of the valve cover. Insert the new PCV valve straight into the valve cover. Push the rubber hose onto the top of the new PCV valve until it stops.
