Veteran's Day is celebrated to honor all veterans who have worn the military uniform in service to their nation.
Because Veteran's Day is a Federal holiday, EVERY US State celebrates Veteran's Day.
In 1919 there was no veteran's day, only armistice day on the 11th of November. People did not celebrate it very much, other than remembering WWI. In 1954, our veteran's day was made, and was celebrated widely.
Americans celebrate veteran's to salute all who served in the armed forces. Americans also celebrate it because many people died while serving in the armed forces, so at the 11th hour of veteran's day there is a moment of silence. Americans also celebrate it because the day means a day of from work.
