nuclear waste
Yes, there is nuclear waste in space.
nuclear waste is a by product of nuclear power plants, or in the creation of nuclear weapons.
nuclear waste contains about 90 % of nuclear fuel but it is much harmful then nuclear itself.
Sending nuclear waste to the sun is currently not technologically feasible or economically viable. The cost would be extremely high and the environmental and safety risks involved in launching such a mission would be significant. It is more practical to focus on improving nuclear waste management and disposal techniques on Earth.
Mexico belongs to the World Nuclear Association and the International Atomic Energy Agency. As such, it follows both agencies recommendations in terms of nuclear waste management. Currently (2018) it includes spent fuel storage facilities at the Laguna Verde nuclear power plant. Low-level waste is stored at a near-surface disposal site at La Piedrera, in the northern state of Zacatecas, since 1985.
The nuclear wastes are currently placed in underground storage units (long tubes of radioactive waste materials) all over the country or all over the world.
