The sure way is to use a glue trap. It sounds cruel but when you witnedd the very expensive damage they can do, you have to simply kill them, then clean with bleach any areas they travle. They love to chew on a car engines wires & tear up the hood lining to make nests & leave a major stinky mess, not to mention the risk of disease.
Glue traps work. Put it in the engine over night & remove before you start the car, keep doing this do not let down your guard & miss a night-that is when they will strike again.
