Check to see if the brake lights work. Had a mustang that the brake light switch activation would release the shift locking mechanism.
Look on the differential cover and there will be a tag with the ratio on it.
Could be either 3.55 or 3.73 :1
depends on tire size and gear ration
If a 2000 Jeep Wrangler suddenly loses power in 5th gear, it might be a problem with the speed sensor on the transmission. This sensor regulates when the Jeep will shift or should shift.
Most likely a broken gear cluster
80w 90 gear lube, or my favorite is Lucas oil stabilizer, it is thicker and leaks less.
This button is for customizing the way your transmission shifts. If you have it set on w ( winter ) the transmission starts off in second gear and shifts at a low rpm. The s ( sport or summer ) setting starts in first gear and revs to a higher rpm before shifting . You will possibly get better gas milage in the w position but with the lack of the engines power.
3.07 or 3.73 to 1. Could be either.
There are several things that can cause your 2005 Jeep manual transmission to shift hard between first and second gear. The most common cause is a malfunctioning shifting fork.
That is no small job, engine controls, transmission, and running gear are all different, but will it physically fit, yes.
The tag on the back of the case has the part number, model number and gear ratio on it.
My jeep wrangler keeps loking in gears
